To get the distinct flavor of Jim Beam Bourbon, the distillery ages the liquor in charred oak barrels for a minimum of four years. This imparts a medium body and a caramel color that you’ve come to know in a bourbon. The oaky, vanilla and spicy backdrop greets you with a swirling of the bourbon, inviting you to taste what lies within the glass. Sir Edwards is distilled and then matured in oak barrels. Refined, aromatic and woody, long on the palate with a clean, round flavor, it reveals all the finesse of an outstanding Scotch blend.

The Macallan treated this 18 Year Old to not just one, but two cask content-types for its maturation, released as part of the Double Cask series! Oloroso sherry was used to season a combination of both American and European oak casks, with the former imparting vanilla nuances while the latter brings that hallmark Macallan spice. Another fantastic sherried single malt from the Speyside distillery!

Tasting Notes

Nose: Dried fruit, ginger and toffee. Rich orange with hints of clove and nutmeg.

Palate: Rich raisin and sultana with notes of caramel, vanilla and ginger, balanced by wood spice and zesty citrus.

Finish: Warm oak spice with ginger, turning to sweet orange.

Country: Highland, Scotland ABV: 43%

The initial aroma is strong with citrus and a hint of whiskey. The palate again reveals lots of orange character, and a moderate amount of honey. Has a rich, bourbon finish that plays on the tongue and ends with a final touch of honey.

Nose: Strong with citrus, whiskey, and hints of honey

Taste: Sweet honey and allspice with vanilla and a hint of smoke notes

Finish: Bourbon is evident with long, slightly spicy finish

Swing features an elevated amount of Speyside malts, balanced by malts from the northern Highlands and Islay. On the tongue it starts off a bit sweet and then the spicy notes take affect mid-palate which exposes the smoke and peat. It has a smooth lingering smoke and spice finish. The result is a luxurious flavor that's light in the foreground, with sweet mouth-watering depth developing on the palate.

Produced with a careful selection of the best Scottish malt and grain whiskies, mainly from the region of Speyside. The only one in its category with an aging of at least 15 years in oak barrels. A pale coloured blend with a fresh and soft taste which is characterized by the maturity and softness provided by its long aging period.
